I don't know about sea water, but I do wear it in the pool when I'm swimming and it's fine. Even gives heart rate while swimming.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The vívosmart has an operating range of 14º to 140ºF, so using it in water around 104ºF should be just fine. We recommend thoroughly rinsing the vívosmart HR with fresh water after exposure to chlorine, salt water, sunscreen, or other harsh chemicals as prolonged exposure to these substances may damage the case. ^DK
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After a few emails with Garmin, I discovered my Vivosmart cannot be used in a hot tub. The issue is not the water temperature. The issue is the Vivosmart cannot be submerged. When swimming or showering, the Vivosmart is in and out of the water but not submerged. When in a hot tub, it is submerged. Garmin stated the Vivosmart should not be submerged.
