“Hello, I have a model J E47 001 microwave, manufactured in July 1988. KW:1, VAC/HZ 120/60. It still works but has no turntable. Is the cooking power 1 kilowatt? most new ones seem to be 700 watts. Is it still safe and reliable after all these years?”

This microwave was introduced in the late '80s and offered 500 watts of cooking power. We didn't include turntables in our microwaves back when this model was available. We did offer a rectangular/square glass cooking tray (WB49X0563) which is no longer available to purchase through GE Appliances. If you aren't seeing any evidence of sparking or arcing inside the oven cavity when in operation, the unit is fine to use. -Vikki@GEAppliances
