Hi Jt59- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase! Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear is recommended. Some foods can produce strong odors while cooking. Some extreme odors like fish or burned popcorn may take several days to wear away. We suggest to view cleaning tips at the following link: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=16989 - Also, condensation inside the unit is normal and is especially prevalent when cooking foods of high moisture content for extended periods of time. See the following link for more details: http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17337 - We hope this is helpful. Thanks for reaching out to us!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi, I don't notice any strong odors from food lingering in mine, but I haven't been cooking any foods with really strong odor, like garlic or anything. I haven't had mine very long and use mostly to heat leftovers. Here's a link with some info about condensation. http://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=17337 I hope this helps.
