“Does this get hotter/need more ventilation than just a microwave? Trying to replace a same size microwave in a wooden cabinet, yet see clearances "recommended" are 3" on sides & top. I never had this much clearance prior over 20 years with no issues.”

I also use a wooden cabinet to hold our mw. Clearance is a little over 2" on the sides. I keep an eye on it, especially while using the air fryer and convection oven features, but so far I have not noticed any problems with venting or excessive heat buildup.

We do not recommend installing it in a cabinet, because the location is unable to provide the air flow necessary for proper operation of the microwave. We do have some built-in models, such as model PEB7227ANDD and PEB7227DLBB, but the dimensions are a little different than the model you are looking at.
