“Is it well insulated or do the top and sides get very hot? I live in a trailer and want to install it in the old microwave cabinet above the stove which has 10" clearance on the top and 2" clearance on each side and sufficient clearance on the bottom.”

Well insulated. Havent had any issues with tope or sides hesting

We certainly understand wanting to ensure the microwave is installed in the right area, and your concern over heat; we’re glad to advise. Unfortunately your space may not be the best fit, as we recommend 3 inches of clearance on each side (as well as 3 inches on the top, 1 inch in the rear and no obstructions on the bottom); we regret any inconvenience that may cause. Regarding heat, it’s possible the surfaces may become hot during use, and we recommend caution when touching the turntable, door, rack or walls of the oven during/after use. If it might be helpful, we do have safety details as well as the necessary clearances on page 3 of the manual; that can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page.
