“Sometimes when I hit the Start/ +30 sec. button to quickly heat up a cup of coffee etc. the unit will display the word "FOOD" instead of starting. Other times it starts right up. Please explain what I might be doing wrong.”

Hi! This has never happened to me. I hit an extra 30 seconds all the time. Something may be wrong with your microwave.
