“One of the exterior side panels is loose and does not have a screw indentation or screw in it whereas the other side panel is secured tightly with a screw. Is this a defect?”

My unit had the same problem. I taped the panel to the underside. That stopped the panel from vibrating. I believe this is a cosmetic issue.
