• Hi LuluM - The sounds cannot be muted on this microwave. GE® 2.0 Cu. Ft. Capacity Countertop Microwave Oven JES2051DNWW has Beeper Volume option. Press Beeper Volume and choose 0–3 for mute to loud. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue

• I haven't tried to turn the beep off. I'm 85% sure you can't turn it off. It's there to make sure you don't forget about the food in the microwave. Hope his answer helps.
