Q: QuestionI need to replace my over the range microwave but it's a GE 2010 model: JVM1540SM3SS. I don't see any 15" models for sale. Which model will work the best? Thank you for your help!

• A:Answer Hi MWL, thanks for your question! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy! - NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used. - With that being said, we think these models would make lovely replacements: JVM3160RFSS, JVM6172SKSS, JVM6175SKSS, JVM6175YKFS, JNM3184RPSS, PVM9179SKSS. We would recommend attempting to reset the internal electronics of the unit by disconnecting power for a few minutes and then restoring power. In the event of service, GE will provide any part of the microwave oven which fails due to a defect in materials or workmanship. From the date of the During this limited one-year warranty, GE will also provide, free of charge, all labor and original purchase related service costs to replace the defective part when the unit is serviced. Q: QuestionIs the vent fan supposed to come on and stay on all the time when you are warming somthing up? There is nothing cooking on the stove below.

• A:Answer Hi 2858! We appreciate your question. We found that this is supposed to happen. Over-the-range microwaves have an automatic fan feature to help protect the electronic components, and also helps the cooking area get rid of excess heat. The built-in thermostat automatically turns the vent fan on if the unit is too hot, and will not turn off until the microwave is cool again. You will not be able to turn the vent fan off manually during this time. We hope this helps! Emily@GEA

This microwave is designed with a 13.5" glass turntable that can be easily removed for cleaning. We recommend leaving the turntable on for best cooking results, this model has Turntable On/Off control that allows it to be turned off for large dishes. It is not equipped with any shelf, glass tray, metal tray, or wire rack that may be found in an Advantium oven to use with different cooking modes.
