“If the microwave is vented to the outside, can I use it without the charcoal filter?”

Hello there - We really appreciate you reaching out about this and we're happy to offer some insight. A Charcoal Filter Accessory Kit is required for the non-vented exhaust, but not if the microwave is going to be exhausted externally. Detailed information about an Outside Top Exhaust (Vertical Duct) starts on page 16 of the installation instructions and information for an Outside Back Exhaust (Horizontal Duct) begins on page 20 of the same installation instructions (linked on our website). Please try again later.I believe it will vent to the outside well without the charcoal filter [no need to filter if it is not coming back into the kitchen, just make sure you put the fan into the proper position to hook up and then vent outside before you mount the machine [on the upper rear of the machine]]
