Hello- We are sorry to hear you are having this issue. We can certainly understand your frustration and are happy to help! Please try resetting the electronics by unplugging the unit or flipping the breaker off to it for at least 5 minutes. Then restore power and set your clock and verify the vent is turned off. If you still see the word vent or if the vent is continuing to run. We recommend taking advantage of your warranty and reaching out to GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737. Thank you! Joyce@GEA
