We have not installed our ice maker yet. It needs to be connected to a water source and our contractor is using a non-kink line and we ordered the pump to drain out any excess water. (Recommended by our appliance rep who we have used for years and our contractor). There is a place in back of maker that houses the pump.

An ice level sensor in the storage bin will monitor the ice levels. As ice is created, it will fall into the storage bin in batches. The icemaker automatically shuts off when the bin is full. The icemaker will restart when more ice is needed. Water constantly circulates over a freezing plate. As the water freezes into ice, the minerals in the water are rejected. Water containing rejected minerals is drained (gravity drain) after each freezing cycle. Fresh water enters the machine for the next ice making cycle. There is an optional Ice Maker Drain Pump Kit (UPK3) available to purchase if a drain pump is needed. This ice machine must be connected to a potable water supply. The recommended water supply tubing is 1/4" OD copper. Stainless steel flex or reinforced PCV tube may also be used ( not included). We encourage you to view pages 11 and 16 of the Installation Instructions for complete details: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60744-2.pdf - We hope this is helpful.
