My apartment's vinyl window opening (when completely open) is 13" tall and 28.5" wide. The unit juuuuust barely fit - the instructions indicate that the height had to be 13-3/8"! Yikes! I had to remove the vinyl "blockers" from inside the top of the window channel of each side of the window. These blockers are vinyl, about 3-1/2" long and pop into the channel at the very top of the inside of the window. I'm not 100% sure about the purpose of these channel blockers, but apparently these keep the window from sliding too far up under normal operation? No expert here, but that must keep the window locks from banging against the top of the window casing... Other stuff: The instructions give these minimum window measurements: 13-3/8" high and 21-7/8" wide I have no storm windows (probably why so much cold comes thru in the winter!) No issues whatsoever with normal operation over the month I've had it (no dripping, no probs)
