“My window is only 20 in wide. I am having the hardest time trying to find a window unit that will fit there. If I get this one, is it possible to install it? If I don't use the side flaps, how can I fill the space so bugs/hot air doesn't come in?”

This unit is 16 7/16" wide and can be installed without the side panels. You can fill any gaps with pieces of plywood or check with local retails or hardware stores for options. The unit is a little less than 17 inches wide,, so it should fit. But it's not 5050BTU as advertised, just 5000BTU. Shouldn't make much difference.
