Hi there, and thanks for contacting us with this great question! When the ice bin fills to the level of the feeler arm, the icemaker will stop producing ice automatically. It also has an on and off switch on the icemaker itself that you can use if necessary. This model does have a water filter indicator light. For top control models, the filter light will blink in the control area (at the top of the refrigerator) when the door is open. In general, we would recommend replacing the filter cartridge approximately every 6 months, or earlier if the flow of water decreases. More information about both the filter indicator light and icemaker is available in the manual, on pages 14 and 20 respectively. If you’d like to view that manual, you can do so on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page. The manual also has information on the controls on page 8. We hope this is helpful. We’re glad to assist if you have any other questions or concerns, here or over social media. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have not yet received delivery on our refrigerator. However, on the subject of the ice maker, having had several, I don't use them. A simple ice tray suffices.
