  • QuestionI just recently purchased the GE microwave oven 2.0 and my question is is it supposed to be really loud while it’s running the one that I have is so loud it sounds like an engine

    Asked by Pambo.

    • Answer Hi Pambo - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your new GE Microwave JES2051SNSS. This is one of our most popular models and has not been described as having a "loud engine" sound while operating. When using a power level other than HIGH or 10, the magnetron tube cycles on and off to obtain the lower power. This cycling of the magnetron tube causes this dull thumping, pulsating, or humming noise. A fan where the internal components are located will run continuously while the microwave is in operation to constantly circulate the air to cool the working parts. It is normal for the internal fan for the electronics to continue to run for a few seconds after the microwave cycle is complete, even if the door is opened. This fan does not circulate air in the cavity. We suggest to make sure the microwave is level and has plenty of air space around the case: 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. • QuestionI need to replace a GE Profile JE2160SF03, will this model work? I have an existing trim kit that I don't want to replace.

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi - We certainly appreciate your loyalty. Built-in trim kits are not interchangeable. A trim kit consists of the trim frame, as well as ducts that encase and attach to the microwave inside the cabinet cut-out. It is important to only use the trim kit designed for that model. The comparable model is our GE Profile™ Series 2.2 Cu. Ft. Built-In Sensor Microwave Oven PEB7227SLSS. It is compatible with GE® Required 27" Built-In Trim Kit JX7227SLSS and GE® Required 30" Built-In Trim Kit JX7230SLSS. • QuestionIs there a trim kit available?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer No, there is not a trim kit available for this model. It is designed for countertop use only. We do not recommend installing it in tight or enclosed spaces, such as inside a cabinet. For proper ventilation, allow at least 3 inches of clearance on both sides and above the microwave, and at least 1 inch of clearance at the rear. Additionally, the front edge of the microwave, measured at the door, should be positioned at least 3 inches back from the edge of the countertop or shelf to help prevent accidental tipping.

  • QuestionWhen I want it to cook at half power, am I truly getting half power or is it cycling between full power and no power?

    Asked by JeffreyW.

    • Answer We are happy to help you with your microwave power level. Power levels are most commonly used in recipes to prevent overcooking. Fats and sugars heat very quickly, for example, cheese toppings or brown sugar glaze. Using a lower power level or adding toppings halfway through the cooking time will help avoid overcooking of these items. The time it takes to cook food in microwaves depends upon the amount of food, its size, shape, density and starting temperature as well as the cooking wattage of the microwave. It doesn't lower the heat. It controls how often your microwave turns on and off during cooking. It's heating half the time.
