Hi TheAdmiral, thanks for your question! The power draw/AMP for this unit is 9.5 AMPS. For appliances with compressors (ex. refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers), there is a brief surge of power when the compressor cycles on. This is called the "surge" or "start-up" amps, and is about 2x to 3x the running amps. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
