Hi Rosie- The freezer is equipped with 2 adjustable shelves and 1 fixed 1/2 sweet spot shelf (under ice bucket). The extra holders allow you to adjust the two shelves if necessary to accommodate various size items. Thanks for choosing GE. Enjoy! SUE@GEA
