“Do you have to connect the internal water dispenser to have water for ice? I question wasting energy by opening the door constantly for water so I would like to shut off. Also can water spills or drips get into the freezer?”

Hi NPR660 - Thank you for your interest in a new GE refrigerator. We are delighted to assist you. The external water line runs into a single valve that directs the water to either the dispenser or the icemaker. The best option here is to simply not use the internal water dispenser. Water spills or drips would not be a normal occurrence from any of the internal components on the refrigerator itself. We hope this answers your questions. We wish you all the best! Vikki@GEA
