I did not self install. My unit was installed by pros sent by Best Buy . My recollection is that all necessary connections, etc. were automatically included in the package deal when I placed the order. Everything went very smooth and the unit is wonderful. It even makes its own hot water as our hot water heater broke down. I hope that this is helpful. WLR
