Hi WriterMom777- Thanks for choosing GE! When the model is manufactured, the extra number (4) is placed on the appliance rating plate and product registration card. This number is used to identify manufacturing specific data when the appliance is made. Should service or parts be needed, this is used as an identifier for the specific appliance. GE Appliances is changing the appliances badge and is going from a dome shaped to a flat badge. The sounds may be muted. press the Heated Dry or Power Dry button 7 times within 5 seconds. Repeat this process to turn sounds on/off. For reference, see page 9 of the Owner's Manual at the following link: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-55119-1.PDF - Keep in touch!
