Hi Annc- The dark gray pearlescent racks are nylon coated for durability. Ball tipped tines help protect dishes from breaking. Also, the adjustable upper rack accommodates plates up to 10½" and other tall items. We'd love to have you in the GE Appliances Family! SUE@GEA
