Hi there, If you have a Whole Home Water Filtration System you should not need to use another filter inside of your refrigerator. However, if you are not using a filter within your refrigerator, you would need to use a bypass plug in its place. Otherwise, you will be unable to use your dispenser. A bypass plug should be included with your unit upon delivery. We hope that this helped! Thank you so much for your question. -Michael
