Hi 0923- Should you experience a power outage or power failure, it is not necessary to unplug the refrigerator. When power is restored and the unit automatically starts, the sudden start will not harm the refrigerator. Electronic models will return to your settings. If there was a short power outage the compressor overload will cycle on and off (not the compressor) until the refrigerant system equalizes at which point the compressor will start and refrigeration will resume.
