“the front control panel words (ie, fridge, freezer, ice, water) are hard to see, are they supposed to be lighted or does that panel have backlighting, , other than the lighting for the dispenser? The one we saw in the store was not plugged in.”

Hi fromflorida - Thanks for considering GE! The control panel is not backlit. The external controls, “wake-up” when the control is touched. The refrigerator controls will turn-off/fade after a certain period of non-use. Press and release the Freezer or Fridge pad. The display will show the set temperature. A light will appear above Water, Crushed, Cubed options when selected and will remain until a new selection is made. We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA
