Hello Laura - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. You are correct that the GNE29GMKES does not have an external water and ice dispenser. If you wish to have a Slate French Door refrigerator with the ice and water dispenser on the door, we recommend one of the following wonderful Models: PFE28PMKES, PFE28KMKES, or the GFE28GMKES.
