Most electric ranges and cooktops made today feature a ceramic glass cooktop surface. The ceramic glass material is very durable and tends to be easier to maintain than electric coil with drip pan burners. While the surface is scratch resistant, it is not entirely scratch proof. The appropriate cookware and cleaning products are very important in maintaining the surface.
