• Good day, We'll be happy to answer your question! The grease filters are required for use at all times when using the vent. However, the charcoal filters are only required when using recirculating (internal) venting. If venting externally, then only the grease filters are required. Have a wonderful day! Mike@GEA

• Until I can install an external vent, can I use the charcoal in the meantime until someone can do my external vent and then change to the regular filter?
