We do recommend having 18" of clearance on all sides of the unit for proper airflow. The moisture collected in the bucket can be removed by manually removing and emptying the bucket when full or you can connect a garden hose (not supplied) to the dehumidifier to continuously drain the bucket. The hose should be cut to the shortest length possible to reach your drain location. We hope this helps. Vikki@GEA
