Hello, Great question! We appreciate your interest in GE Appliances and we'll gladly help you with this model. The vent kit can be placed in a window opening of 20"- 46". This should not affect the distance the appliance can be placed from a window. We found that this portable air conditioner also requires a 30" clearance on all sides. The hose of this model itself measures 5ft. in length. We hope this information helps. If you have any further questions let us know. Have a great day! -Sylvia@GEA
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hello there. I bought this unit today and installed it as well. The window I used to install the AC is is 4 feet from the floor. The hose it self is 56 inches long ( 4ft. And 8 inches). I think if I had a lower window I would have installed it there better, unfortunately I do not. BTW it cools very well but I didn't expect the sound to be kinda loud to me. I had not read of any complaints or reviews for sound so I decided to purchase it. I hope this is helpful. Good luck.
