Yes you can choose a water level. However, I have used the "Precise Fill" feature and it does a really great job on estimating the amount of water required - completely covers the load but does not overfill. Clothes come out clean without wasting water. But, as mentioned, you can select a water level and not use the "precise fill" feature.
