“I'm replacing a 20 year old GE washer that just ground to a halt. It was labeled HD (heavy duty) and I think that is the reason for its longevity (not 1 repair). Is this model a heavy duty?”

Hi there, thanks for reaching out! We're always happy to hear about an appliance that lasted a good long time! This model does have a Heavy cycle available to it as well as a Normal and Light cycle too. It also has the ability for you to choose Heavy and Extra Heavy soil levels on the control panel.
