No, not high efficiency. I bought a brand new set, figured it's brand new and new technology, probably very energy efficient without having to have the label. The washer is fine, like the washer -large capacity, agitator, rings out (spins) clothes well before they go into dryer -should save drying time theoretically, logically. I washed 5 regular size bath towels, 3 hand towels and 2 pot holders as soon as we got it in the house and hooked it all up. Inside the washer it looked to be a little under half a load. Just to see how the dryer would do I set it for 60 minutes altho I figured that's probably excessive. It ended up taking 2 solid hours to dry the load, which weighed maybe 7-8 lbs, at most (average load of laundry weighs 12-15 pounds according to google search). It should've dried in maybe half an hour...even less considering the capacity of the dryer and the fact that the set is brand new. I can't say we just by chance got a dud dryer, don't know and don't care. I researched washer/dryers for 3 days and my husband and son drove 30 minutes to pick this up, came home, brought it inside in the rain, set it all up, cut up the boxes --this was quite a bit of work and time, only to have the dryer work far worse than the old one we're desperate to get rid of and never see again. It's just unbelievable. We're taking it back, tons of work and time and hassle but that's how bad the dryer is. Maybe you'll get a set with a properly functioning dryer, maybe not. Maybe this is how the dryer is supposed to be, bad by design, it's possible. Maybe they're counting on once you go thru all the trouble to get it home and set it up you won't bring it back, you'll just deal with it. My new and improved opinion is that if you're buying anything GE you're taking a major risk and it's not worth it. I'm buying a Kenmore set once this dinosaur is returned to the store.
