QuestionJust got a ge model GTW220ACK5WW washer. The agitator barely moves? Even with just a small amount of clothes in it? No matter if set on light or heavy or bulky? Is something wrong with it. It’s the first time I used it. It spun out fine.

QuestionModel GTW680BSJ5WS washer quit on spin cycle during a wash and now does nothing. Emptied clothes out of it unplugged it for awhile plugged back in and nothing. Turn dial to different cycles, All light come on like normal, push start and nothing. Any ideas

- Answer Hi Toots - Thanks for reaching out to us regarding your GE washer. We are happy to help. During agitation, detergent mixes with water and air to form suds. The washer agitator or infusor is designed to reduce excessive splashing; however, if too much detergent is in the water, an excessive amount of suds can form. In most cases, leaking is caused by oversudsing, which can push water and/or suds over the edge of the inner basket. If you find water leaking from the front left corner of a top load washer, it is usually water from the overflow tube. In the rare event that a washer fills too full or excessive water splashes over the inner basket, there is an overflow tube that catches the water and directs it away from electric or mechanical parts. QuestionPut fabric softener in the side that says fabric softener and ran a load. When it was complete it looked like there was still the same amount of softener in the compartment as when it started. Is there a setting you have to push to get it to dispense

QuestionI am looking at buying this model. My problem is that my cabinet above the washer is at 66" which is what the lid clearance is said to be. Does this have the soft close feature? Does that mean I could lift the lid to 75-80 degrees and it will stay open?

- Answer I actually discovered yesterday that it goes in shifts when you pick warm. It comes hot, then changes to cold until it is full making the water warm.

This determines the correct agitate profile, agitate duration and amount of water suited to the size and type of load placed in the washer. The washer will not start the wash cycle or fill with water if the lid is open. When the lid is closed the machine is able to begin filling with water in order to sense the load size. This is a high efficiency washing machine. This system requires less water while providing effective cleaning. QuestionCan you wash a queen-size comforter?

- Answer Hi - Yes, the washer can accommodate a queen size comforter. While comforters are not all the same thickness, any size comforter will wash properly in our washers as long as it fits below the balance ring of the washer tub and is not stuffed in the tub tightly. QuestionWhen we wash darks, no matter what combination we try of water temp and rinse cycle, there is detergent residue on our clothes. Even if we just wash 1 shirt it is leaving residue. What can we do to fix this. We have only had the washer for 2 months!

- Answer Hi - Thanks for reaching out to regarding your washer. We understand your frustration. We suggest to select the Deep Rinse option even if you are not using a fabric softener. This ensure clothes are rinsed free of detergent, fabric softener and stubborn soils. Do not overfill or dilute detergent as this can result in additive being dispensed prematurely in the wash cycle. For optimal performance, especially when selecting cooler temperature and in cold weather climates, place powdered HE detergent directly in the wash basket before adding clothes. NOTE: Single-dose laundry packets should not be added to the dispenser drawer, as they will not dispense properly. Put packets in bottom of wash basket. QuestionOn the FILL step little to no water comes out. It does not fill with water. Is this normal? There us no water level. The clothes get soaked but they are not in water. I also see no detergent.

- Answer Hi Tina -The Department of Energy (DOE) sets standards for washer water usage. Over the years, the amount of allowable water usage has been reduced. With washers using less water and energy, you will no longer see a wash basket full of water. Most washers are now programmed with load sensing to adjust water levels based on the cycle and load size, so the amount of water used will vary. This washer features PreciseFill or Auto Load Sensing. This determines the correct agitate profile, agitate duration and amount of water suited to the size and type of load placed in the washer. The washer will not start the wash cycle or fill with water if the lid is open. When the lid is closed the machine is able to begin filling with water in order to sense the load size. This is a high efficiency washing machine. This system requires less water while providing effective cleaning action. You may notice that the water level is lower than on your previous washer. This is normal for a high efficiency washer. DEEP FILL option allows you to customize your water-fill levels with just the touch of a button. Add a little extra or fill the tub to wash the way you want. QuestionJust bought this machine. How do I get it to fill with water? It dumps water inside on the sensing cycle but then seems to drain and the bottom agitator just spins back and forth.

If the washer fills and drains at the same time, make sure the drain hose is raised to 30" high. Any less will cause water to siphon back out of tub as it is filling.
