• Hello Lizzy12 - Thank you for reaching out about this wonderful induction range. Congratulations on the kitchen remodel. A stainless steel backsplash and overhanging shelf will not interfere with the function of the induction cooktop. We do suggest that there be at least 30" between the surface of the range and any surface above. Please let us know if you have any more questions. - JB
