• Hi smadam - Thanks for reaching out to us and for considering GE! We certainly understand your concern. It would not be normal for the knobs to be hot during use. Per the Owner's Manual, always broil with the oven door closed for safety reasons. These ranges are designed specifically for closed door broiling and produce optimal broiling results. You should also use closed-door broiling when cooking in a range with knobs or controls above the door.
