Hi Alexa - Thanks for choosing GE Model AHP12LZ! We are sorry to hear your air conditioner is not cooling well. This is frustrating, we know. Our room air conditioners must be plugged directly into a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. Do not use an extension cord or plug the unit into a surge protector or multi-outlet adapter. Consult your Owner's Manual and/or Installation Instructions for the electrical requirements for your model: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-5000462.pdf - Also, we suggest viewing the following link for tips- AIR CONDITIONER NOT COOLING WELL: https://products.geappliances.com/appliance/gea-support-search-content?contentId=18860 - If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to ask. We are also happy to help at GEAppliances.com! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I looked at reviews before I bought mine. There were some similar issues as yours on the reviews. Mine works extremely well. It installed easy. My plug is right by window. It gets very cold. But you may have a defected unit. I do know make sure you removed all packaging. The unit should be set at cool and high. I have mine set at 68. Its cooling kitchen LR and DR. Your extension should be at least number 12 wire no longer then like 10 to 20 feet. Check to see if plugs are warm. If all is good. Take it back for another one.
