Hi KC - Thank you for your interest in a new GE microwave. We are happy to assist you. This style microwave can not be vented to the outside. This microwave is designed to be placed on your countertop or installed in a built-in installation using the appropriate optional kit designed for that purpose. The built-in kit and the proper cutout opening in your cabinet allows the microwave to vent the heat it generates during operation (as well as when sitting idle) back into the room. The microwaves we offer that are designed to be vented outside are our over-the-range style microwaves that operate as a vent hood as well.
