“Why does GE, keep telling everyone who wants to replace their built-in stainless steel microwaves to buy one that is dark gray? Obviously the desire is to use the existing cut-out and trim kit they have. Why not just make this in stainless?”

We can understand wanting the microwave to be completely stainless steel. However, in 2019 we changed this model to one exterior color and the trim kit will give it the Stainless look you are wanting and go beautifully with your other Stainless Appliances. The PEB7227ANDD uses trim kit JX7227SLSS or JX7230SLSS.
