Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. We recommend 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. We're excited to have you in the GE Appliances family. Enjoy! Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This microwave has to have 2" room on all sides to work properly. It would have to have at least 38" wide as it is 34 1/2" wide 12" high 18" deep so no it will not fit the width but all the rest would work. I have mine on my counter that has storage above and below with a place to eat between that is 18" between storage. I placed this Microwave here to replace one the same as this but higher.
