Hi suzopedia- Our refrigerators continue to be manufactured with as quiet an operation as possible. We realize the kitchen is a popular gathering place. When the surrounding noise is low, you may hear a hum or pulsating sound from the high efficiency compressor while it is operating. Hardly know its running. You do hear when ice drops into storage but that is to be expected
