“There is a 1/4 inch air gap between the top of my crisper drawers and the shelf above them. It makes the fruit/veg slider useless because so much air gets in through the gap. Is something wrong with my crispers?”

Sounds like the drawer rollers are not in the right place. Does the soft-close feature work? Try removing and replacing them.
