“Does the ice maker have a small tank on it or do you have to buy the side tank accessory to make ice. I’ve seen some sold without the side tank accessory.”

Some models include the side tank. The model I purchased did include a side tank. However, the Opal 2.0 has water supplied from the area directly below the ice bin. You will fill this reservoir directly with distilled water. The optional side tank is worth having in my opinion.
