No, I am not sure if GE has resolved this problem. The new model includes a scale inhibitor filter now.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.hi Mike, you need to solve this problem , not GE. just clean every week with bleach and there is no way you will get black ice. somethings, require maintenance like us having to shower at least every 2- 3 days.
