“My GE JEM31SF01 will not turn off unless I leave the door open. If I close the door it makes a horrible noise however it still heats food. Suggestions on how to fix it or is it time for a new one?”

Hi MGus- We are sorry to hear of this unfortunate experience. You may want to reset the electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. Model JEM31SF01 was manufactured 2002-2007. Due to age, you may want to consider a replacement. The latest model is GE Profile™ Series 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven PEM31SFSS.
