This unit connects absolutly the same way any other washing machine would connect to your hot and cold lines, along with the waste line. there is no recess for the hoses at the back of the machine.

The standpipe diameter should be a minimum of 1 ¼”, and the standpipe height above the floor should be a minimum height of 24” and a maximum height of 96”. You will need two water/fill hoses for the unit, for hot and cold water. If you order from a dealer, you may be able to purchase the hoses from them directly. Alternately, the hoses are available as part WX14X10011 through our GE Appliances parts department; they can be reached at 1-877-959-8688. Regarding how close the unit can be installed to the back wall, it is possible to install in a way that requires 0” of rear clearance. To enable 0” clearance on the back, you need to use 90 degree elbow hoses. Otherwise, you may need some additional clearance to avoid rubbing of the hoses against the back wall. If you’d like to view more installation information, you can do so starting on page 22 of the manual; that can be viewed on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page. We hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or concerns, we’re always happy to offer assistance. All the best! -Sarah@GEA
