“Is the griddle made of cast iron like the grates are, or is it a nonstick coating that requires using special plastic spatulas only (and would be ruined by using a stainless spatula)?”

• Hi- The extra-large, integrated griddle is aluminum with a non-stick finish. Use only plastic, nylon, wooden utensils or SilverStone® kitchen tools to prevent marring of the coating. It is also compatible with optional CAST IRON REVERSIBLE GRILL/GRIDDLE JXGRILL1 (sold separately). Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

• Yes, the griddle is non-stick aluminum and you should only use plastic, nylon, wooden, or SilverStone® kitchen tools to prevent marring of the coating.
