However, if it was model GFW850SSNWW you were referencing we can tell you it has 5.0 cu. ft. of available space. Q: QuestionHow can shipment be delayed if the washing machine can be damaged by installing the pedestal after washing machine's in use? Can installers raise machine on top of pedestal without laying it down (damaging internal parts)?

• A:Answer Thanks for that reply. Someone else said the internal parts can be damaged if it gets laid down after water's been in it (ever) - aside from those shipping bolts. In other words it can never be used till the pedestal arrives. Which is ridiculous. Also if water can fall into the wrong places and damage the internal parts (electronics) how could anyone ever sell a used one?

• A:Answer Personal opinion, stick with same brand. The mounting on the bottom of the machines may be different. My former machines I just replaced were Maytag w/Maytag pedestals….they are very different than the new GE machines and pedestal

Q: QuestionWhat is the useable inside height of the pedestal drawer? At what height would an item, say a NORMAL sized bottle of fabric softener (not even a big one) fit in and close just fine? I was truly all set to buy GE but ... the non-answer I got from Mike@GEA?

• A:Answer Hi there, I do apologize and will be happy to provide more clarifying details. The interior dimensions are approximately 21.7"W x 22.2"D. The side walls of the drawer are not perfectly vertical – the drawer is slightly narrower at the bottom than at the top, like a cup or other large plastic storage bins. The measurements above are at the deepest (narrowest) point, just before the round at the very bottom. The drawer sidewall is 7.48" deep but the cavity for the drawer can have taller items, up to 11.69", placed into the drawer and it will still close. The internal height is 13", but you will need to tilt the object to get it under the c-channel. The new pedestal is 16-inches (13-inches for old) and can accommodate large Tide bottle upright. Depth with drawer extended is approximately 44". I do hope this helps. Thanks for choosing GE! Mike@GEA

Q: QuestionOld set: can't store regular bottles of fabric softener, etc, in the pedestals; there is <9" clearance and bottles are ~12" tall. What is the useable height of the inside of these pedestal drawers? Would a 12" tall bottle fit & allow the drawer to shut?
