• Not if you're not also upgrading your phone. The buttons are different, and it's lighter but otherwise it's the same product.

• No need to upgrade if you have the previous model VR. If you are upgrading to the note 7 then it is a necessary upgrade due to the usb c connection.

• If you have a phone that has the USB-C connector, such as the Note 7, then you will need to upgrade. However, from what I can tell the experience is pretty much the same being powered by Oculus, of course I could be wrong there.

• The only difference between the 2 is slightly different design and the option to change between 3.0 and 2.0 usb connector. If you dont have the latest generation of samsung you wont see any benefit of upgrading.
