Thank you for reaching out with your questions, Jestdoit. While we can't speak to the new device quite yet since it's yet to be fully released, there are a few things that can be done to help any heat concerns when using any of the VR units. Make sure the smartphone battery is fully charged. Use wifi when possible instead of data. Try using power saving mode, or even air plane mode. For both the sake of heat and focusing, try turning down the brightness of your smartphone. I hope that helped to answer your questions. ^Viv
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm using a Galaxy s7 Edge, and I notice after about half an hour, my phone is warm to the touch, so I limit sessions to that length. I have never gotten any overheating warnings while using this model of the Gear VR, but my CPU cooler app shows the temp at about 150° F after half an hour of use. As far as focus, I have a couple of observations. I do notice if you don't have the unit settled just right on your nose, things can look blurry. It's really not a matter of adjusting the lenses with the dial-- I find it's the physical placement of the headset with respect to your eyes and nose. That being said, I have 20/20 vision, my mom has vision corrected with ordinary reading glasses, and my dad has very thick glasses, but all three of us use the same headset without adjusting the dial... I think that's fantastic.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The overheating is related to the phone just got recharged. After I let the phone cools off, I don't experience the overheating problem. I don't have the old unit, but the 2016 unit the focus works fine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I got an overheat warning after using it for about 45 minutes. No improvement on the focus, still blurry. I returned it.
